A bleak performance from Finn "karrigan" Andersen's men brought their 2020 season to an end.
In a rematch of the DreamHack Masters Winter grand final, which Astralis took 3-1, the Danish side once again came out on top, this time in an even more decisive manner. Nuke and Vertigo, two maps that went the distance in the BO5 on Sunday, ended 16-5 and 16-8 in the lower bracket match of BLAST Premier Fall Finals, seeing Astralis eliminate MOUZ.
The Danes once again used Lucas "Bubzkji" Andersen on Nuke in place of Andreas "Xyp9x" Højsleth, with their in-game leader Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander saying in the post-match interview that Danny "zonic" Sørensen "decided a few maps that he is going to play, right now it is Nuke and maybe some more in the future".
However, it was another stellar showing from Nicolai "device" Reedtz (1.67 rating) that made the series a struggle for the European unit, whose AWPer Chris "chrisJ" de Jong fell flat (0.55 rating). After their elimination from BLAST, MOUZ are done with competition for the year, with their next showing expected in 2021.
Nuke saw Astralis start off with the upper hand, taking a 4-0 lead as T before David "frozen" Čerňanský's triple in a mixed buy got his team on the board. Their success was short-lived, as Bubzkji struck back with a quad-kill, and Astralis continued to mount the pressure.
The European mixture managed to claim three rounds before the switch, but Astralis gave no room for a comeback. The Danes closed out the map 16-5, with device leading the charge posting a 28K-11D scoreline.
gla1ve and co. continued where they left off after the action switched to Vertigo, chaining nine rounds in a row before MOUZ could respond. Their clean round win was again followed by a swift response from Astralis, who managed a whopping 13 rounds on the offense.
frozen closed out the second pistol with the double to give his team a lifeline, which they grabbed on to by tying together six rounds in a row. Their comeback story short reached an end shortly, though, as Astralis' double-AWP setup found success and closed out Vertigo, 16-8.
